Say ‘I Do’ in the Park Lands

To celebrate the fifth anniversary of Adelaide’s Sister City relationship with Qingdao, a beautiful new Park Lands location will be available for wedding ceremonies from 1 February 2019, and the site hire is the City of Adelaide’s gift to you.

In April 2014, Qingdao – a major city in eastern Shandong Province, became Adelaide’s fifth Sister City. Last year, the strong friendship between our two cities was recognised with the unveiling of the gorgeous Adelaide-Qingdao Rose Garden in Veale Gardens in the Southern Park Lands. It’s this site which, from 1 February 2019, will become the 12th location in Veale Gardens available for wedding ceremonies.

Home to the striking ‘Song of the Wind’ statue and the exquisite City of Qingdao Rose, bred and donated by renowned South Australian rose hybridist, George Thomson, the Adelaide-Qingdao Rose Garden is a gorgeous new addition to an already long list of open spaces which can be hired in the Adelaide Park Lands.

If you’ve been searching for an outdoor city spot to tie the knot this year, this could be the perfect place. Plus, to mark the anniversary – the site hire for this garden will be waived for all ceremonies successfully booked to take place between 1 February and 31 December 2019.

As well as its natural beauty, the Adelaide-Qingdao Rose Garden offers deep symbolism for many. The ‘Song of the Wind’ statue, donated by the Qingdao Municipal People’s Government, has a matching ‘sister’ in Little Qingdao Park in the City of Qingdao. The two artworks signify the bonds of friendship – a good omen for all newly married couples.
